Dance Direction International
is a well established and respected dance studio. Des van der Spuy, the founder, has been teaching since 1980 and was later joined by Debby Tomlinson to form Dance Direction. In 1996 Debby moved to London and opened a second branch in Surrey, and we became Dance Direction International.

We are affiliated to the AIDT , which is a long established and highly respected international dance organization run from Jhb, the IAAASA (acrobatics) from Jhb and the TDA (Theatre Dance) from Cape Town.

We offer Modern, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, HipHop, Street/Break Dance, Freestyle, Belly Dance, Acrobatics, Pantsula, Gumboot, Theatre Dance, Body Conditioning, Aerobics, Taebo, Step, and Stretch & Posture classes, allowing for complete diversity of styles and producing dancers who are happy to rise to the challenge of new styles.

Striving to balance technique and performance we offer both exam classes and open classes in the disciplines of Modern, Tap, Hiphop, Acrobatics and Theatre dance.

As well as simply offering classes to the pupils, we encourage our pupils to further their dance education, and so therefore offer training programmes through which the dancers are able to become qualified teachers, allowing Dance Direction to grow from strength to strength.

At Dance Direction we do not believe that age limits dance and so we cater for ALL ages- our youngest dancer being only two years old and already passionately taking part in a flapper tap class, and our oldest dancer to date is our ninety year old diva, whose dancing diary would put most to shame!!!
